When my brother and sister in law got married last weekend, we thought that my brother had lost his wedding band on his wedding day.    It wasn’t funny at the time, but looking back, it’s quite hilarious.  They had a beautiful ceremony and each had a matching wedding band that they exchanged.    After the ceremony, we all went to a beachside reception where a beautiful wedding cake awaited. 

Both my brother and sister in law are pranksters, so they both shoved wedding cake into each other’s faces.  Sometime not long after that my brother mentioned that he couldn’t find his wedding band.   At first we thought he was joking, but when he said that it looked like he would need to order a new one before he went on the honeymoon, I knew he wasn’t kidding.   As it turns out, the wedding band was a little big and when they were playing in the cake, the ring slid off his finger and into the cake.   One of the guests actually found it.   I know my brother was relieved and he didn’t have to replace his ring before getting started with his new life.

When I hugged him I felt something in the pocket, and I reached inside to find a small velvet box.  Inside was my diamond engagement ring, and I was stunned.  I thought it was beautiful, but what I was really excited about was that I was getting married to the man I loved.  I love him even more today than I did on that wonderful evening.

Since my daughter was born, I knew that she was going to be a diva. She always loved to show off and perform for all of our family members and friends when they would come over. Recently, I began taking an amazingly fun and interesting class to fill some spare time. I started taking hip hop dance classes with my best friend. I had no idea how much I would learn and how fun it would be, now I can not imagine my life without hip hop dancing. When we had built up our confidence, we decided to go out and dance at a night club. We wanted to really become hip hop, so we decided to buy some hip hop jewelry to complete our new passion.

I was so surprised when by boyfriend proposed to me last fall. I was not expecting it because we had only been dating for a few months. Every little girl dreams of the day when she will be proposed to, I am no exception. I have been looking through wedding magazines for as long as I could hold a magazine. I waited patiently for the love of my life to come along and sweep me off of my feet and last year, all of my dreams came true.

I had been dating my boyfriend for around nine months and things were going very well. One beautiful spring day, when we took a long walk together, my wonderful love stopped abruptly. He got down on one knee and I knew what was coming next. He took out the most beautiful engagement ring and slipped it onto my finger. I had never imaged that he could pick out an engagement ring that was so perfect for me. I immediately said yes and we ran home to call all of our family members and friends. I took pictures of my ring and emailed it to everyone. Everyone was as enraptured with my engagement ring as I was.

My husband and I had a beautiful ceremony a few months ago and I still look at my engagement ring and feel my heart sing. We are as much in love today as we were the day that he proposed and my ring is a constant reminder that dreams really do come true.

Not too long ago my brother called to tell me that he was going to be buying his long time girlfriend an engagement ring this Christmas season.  I couldn’t be more thrilled for the two of them, because they have been dating so long that I already consider her practically my sister in law.  I’m happy to hear that they are going to make it official. She doesn’t have any idea that he’s going to give her an engagement ring though, and he asked me what I thought he should spend on the ring.  I talked to him a little about what he felt he could afford to spend on the engagement ring, and told him that I didn’t think that he should do what many guys do, and that’s go into debt for an engagement ring before the marriage even starts.  I also told him that he could get a lot more for his money by ordering online, to which he said he would definitely do. I told my brother it wasn’t the ring she wanted; it’s the lifetime with him that will make her happy.  He’s planning to ask her in front of everyone on Christmas morning when she opens the engagement ring.
