costume jewelry
I have recently been buying more costume jewelry to go with my clothing, and I am finding that it not only accents what I am wearing, but some days it looks like I have a whole new outfit.
I personally used to think that costume jewelry was tacky or gaudy. Of course, growing up in the 80s there was a lot of bangle type jewelry being worn, and I probably wore some of it myself, but times change and so do styles. Since then, I would look at my grandmother's jewelry or my mom's jewelry and think to myself that it would be great to wear with a costume, hence the term "costume jewelry". But again, times and tastes and fashions change.
These days I find that adding a little bit of costume jewelry to my daily outfits works well for me. My costume jewelry collection varies in color and shape, but I find that most of it is circular and fairly mellow. Some of my costume jewelry is representative of what will hopefully one day be real gemstones. Some of my favorite costume jewelry has been given to me as gifts or handed down from my grandmother's jewelry box. Wherever it has come from, my costume jewelry makes a great addition to my wardrobe.
