Why a Wedding Band is More Important Than Ever Before |

The custom of gifting one's betrothed with a wedding band originated centuries ago as a way of sealing the relationship with a gift of precious metals and precious stones. As time has gone on, various cultures have added the gold or silver engagement ring as a symbol of impending marriage. These are important and treasured customs, and these days, it seems, they are more important than ever before. Because of the rising prices of precious metals such as gold, silver, and platinum in response to uncertain econmic times, a gift of a gold engagement ring is even more significant than it was even two years ago. Although the prospect of selling one's wedding ring or engagement ring is an awful prospect to most people, the wealth locked into those rings of precious metals could represent a valuable resource in times of dire financial need. The fact that these items are more expensive and valuable than they were several years ago makes them even more significant tokens of affection, caring, and the desire to provide for a love one. That's why giving gold or silver in any form is a more meaningful gift than ever before. |
